Tom Vertanous is a first-generation Armenian-American who immigrated to the United States from Iran at the age of four. Before joining Martinian & Associates, Tom quickly found a passion for advocacy and human rights. During his time at the University of Southern California (USC), he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Minor in Health Care administration. During his time at USC, Tom created and lead a non-profit organization—HyerUnited, that has supplied over $2,000,000 in medical equipment to Armenia.
Utilizing his experience and knowledge of the health care system, Tom also interned at the Heart Institute of Cedar-Sinai, where he Authored “Leading Efforts to Increase Organ Donation Through Professionalization of Organ Procurement,” which has helped organ procurement organization pinpoint issues related to organ donations, while offering real solutions. Tom also interned at the FDA, where he spearheaded initiatives designed to streamline the supply chain of medical equipment to developing countries, including Africa, the middle east, and southeast Asia.
During his time at Loyola Law School, Tom interned at the Los Angeles District Attorney, Sexual Crimes Division. Tom was also selected as one of two students extern for the Honorable Stephane V. Willison of the Central District. During his time in the Central District, Tom quickly learned the intricacies federal motion practice and sat in on numerous trials.
During his time at Martinian & Associates, Tom has worked on a wide range of cases including: catastrophic injury, trucking accidents, premises lability, civil rights, and wrongful death cases. Tom’s innate ability to connect with clients and tackle complex legal issues has allowed Tom to recover maximum compensation for his clients.
