Equal Pay Act
An amendment to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Equal Pay Act makes it illegal for any employer and/or union to compensate employees based on their sex. When two individuals have equal skills, qualifications, and experience, one should not be offered a larger salary simply because of their sex.
Age Discrimination Employment Act
This act was made law in 1967 to prohibit unfair or unequal treatment based on age. This bill was introduced out of the rising concern over older workers who were disadvantaged and displaced by younger workers. Age cannot be a factor in gaining or retaining employment so long as age does not prevent a person from performing his or her job duties.
